Bedouin Soundclash – Sounding a Mosaic

Bedouin Soundclash combines modern urban sounds with classic reggae fundamentals. The band formed in early 2000 when Eon Sinclair (bass) met Jay Malinowski (vocals/guitar) at university. Their casual conversation about dub music inspired an informal session covering classic reggae standards. The two decided to play again the next night, asking Brett Dunlop (djembe) to come out. The later addition of Pat Pengelly (drums) filled out their sound, and Bedouin Soundclash was born. Since their inception, Bedouin Soundclash has gained a large and loyal fan base. They have established themselves as one of KingstonÂ’s premier bands, opening for The Pocket Dwellers and David Usher. Their unique yet accessible sound has become widely popular amongst the college circuit. Their debut album, Root Fire, received much critical praise. The album held the number one position on QueenÂ’s University radio CFRC for several weeks and still continues to chart. Sounding A Mosaic was produced by Daryl Jennifer of the legendary Bad Brains and features a remake of “Money Worries” (by the Maytones) featuring Mr. Vernon “Maytone” Buckley himself. If that werenÂ’t enough, there are also two superb remixes by E-Clair and the world-renowned Paul Lazare (Gotan Project). Sweet, smooth, soulful and honest, Sounding A Mosaic is set to become an instant reggae favorite.

The Piper at the Gates of Dawn is Pink Floyd’s debut album and the only one made
under Syd Barrett’s leadership, although he made some contributions to the
follow-up, A Saucerful of Secrets. It has been regarded as one of the most
influential albums ever made, being a tremendous influence on the psychedelic
rock scene of the time and much of what followed. The album has whimsical lyrics
about space, scarecrows, gnomes, bicycles and fairytales, along with psychedelic
instrumental passages. Special limited editions were issued to mark its 30th and
40th anniversaries in 1997 and 2007.

English rock band Queen were one of the most popular bands in the world, and have sold an estimated 300 million records internationally. Known for their theatrical style, and the flamboyant showmanship of lead singer Freddie Mercury, the band built a reputation through the 1970s with million-selling albums and emphatic live performances.

Hollywood Records reintroduces the band yet again with the release of GREATEST HITS I, II & III. While Volumes I and II are full of Queen classics you already know by heart, the third cobbles together odds and sods from the far corners of Queen’s canon along with solo cuts from Freddie Mercury and Brian May.

Opening with the operatic rock classic “Bohemian Rhapsody,” it’s easy to hear not only how this British quartet achieved the kind of global acclaim that ensured they’d be enshrined alongside the likes of the Beatles and Led Zeppelin. When they weren’t dabbling in playful ’50s-flavored rock & roll (“Crazy Little Thing Called Love”), catchy glam (“Killer Queen”), or hard-edged funk (“Another One Bites The Dust”), Queen was capable of delivering heartfelt love letters (“You’re My Best Friend”). The band’s ’80s output is equally intriguing, ranging from the hard-hitting “Headlong” to duets with David Bowie (“Under Pressure”) and soaring movie anthems (“One Vision”). The third volume features more movie themes (“Princes Of The Universe”), Freddie Mercury covering The Platters (“The Great Pretender”), and cameos by contemporary artists like Wyclef Jean, George Michael and Elton John.
